Loop wire game

Image
PURPOSE: This is a simple game to play and have fun and learn about circuits and conductors and non-conductors. HYPOTHESIS: Even if the circuit may appear closed with a non-conductor making it look like a complete circuit , the circuit is still open. MATERIALS:   simple craft/aluminium/copper wire(conductor)  small craft logs or wood pieces  battery lamp or buzzer  wooden board INSTRUCTIONS: 1.Cut the wire into two parts one long and one short. 2.Take one end of the wire and insert it through a wood craft piece and fasten the wooden piece/log on the wooden board. 3. Use the remaining wire to make a loop bog enough to go through the wood log piece and insert the loop into and around the first wire. 4. bend the first wire into multiple bend like a wave and repeat step 2 with the other end. 5. Use the short wire loop and insert it through a another log.  6. The other end of the wire has to be connected to a conductor wire f...

DIY simple constellation

Image
Constellation PURPOSE: This is a simple craft project for science lovers. HYPOTHESIS: Constellations can be recreated with simple materials and it can be lot of fun  MATERIALS: Thread or simple wire split pins thumbstack photoframe foam sheet optional -(fluorescent paint or glow in the dark nail polish)  pen and paper INSTRUCTIONS: 1.Take the frame and cut the foam sheet in the size of frame to fit. 2.Use thumbstack to poke holes in the foam sheet shape of the desired constellation you are trying to create. 3. Insert split pins in the holes  4. Use the wire to connect the split pins  5. Close the split pins in the back side of foam sheet. 6. Insert the foam sheet in the photo frame and fasten it.  7.Optional choices are use glow in the dark wire and use glow in the dark nail polish on the split pins head. 8. Optional choice would be to write down names of the stars and paste it next to the split pin heads RES...

Heliostat - solar power

Image
A Heliostat is a device that takes the sun's heat and traps it using a black container that absorbs the heat and then releases up top to turn a turbine and power a generator. Purpose: A renewable energy source that powers the earth. Hypothesis: The mirrors should draw heat into the can and spin the turbine. Materials 1 large plate/container that is flat with curved edges. A large mirror. Copper wire(Thick). Procedure-Cut the mirror into small and mostly equal piece preferably 1 in. to 1.5 in. squares. Use the wire to make a stand for each mirror and ability to tilt based on sun's position.

Halloween game project

Halloween spider catch game project PURPOSE: This time of the year and if you want to integrate kids love of science with fun game, this may be the right one. HYPOTHESIS: A closed circuit and a open circuit. When the circuit isn't closed the power doesn't flow to lamp to light it up.  MATERIALS: Small spiders - plastic ones maybe from dollar store Copper wire - even craft wire works.  Alligator clips Round/Hexagonal plate - metal, plastic doesnt matter Lamp preferably E10 with lamp base and bulb 2-3v bulb 2 AA battery with receptacle wires to connect and complete the circuit. INSTRUCTIONS: 1.Drill some holes on the rim of the plate as shown in above picture. 2.Cut 4 wires slightly an inch more than the diameter of the plate. 3.Insert wires and tie them tight. 4. Use the remaining wire to make a web with the copper wire or craft wire. 5. Connect one of the wire with the circuit to one terminal of lamp.  6. The other term...

Renewable energy - water turbine

Image
Water Turbine PURPOSE: To make a water turbine to mimic hydro power . Renewable energy is the future.  HYPOTHESIS: The speed and energy of water would rotate the turbine and that could be connected to dynamo/generator to generate electricity MATERIALS: -PVC pipes -PVC joints -Tinker toy -Drinking straw spoons -bubble bottle with a tap INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Remove the spoons from drink straws. 2. Use the spool to insert the spoons and create a turbine. 3. Use the rod and end caps and insert them into pvc pipe joins 4. Make sure the turbine can rotate freely. 5. Use pvc pipes to make stand for the water bottle. 6. Fill water bottle with water and open the tap and let the water force rotate the water turbine. 7. You can use tachometer to measure the speed.  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to understand the potential energy and the height and water force and how it determines the rotating speed and such. 9.Write down the results. RESULTS:...

Morse code - Telegraph

Image
Telegraph and Morse code - Civil war inventions PURPOSE: To make a mock morse code generator using lamp and buzzer. HYPOTHESIS: .Using buzzer can communicate in morse code via sound. .Using lamp can communicate in morse code via light. MATERIALS: Buzzer Lamp Battery AA and battery case Wires Switch CIRCUIT: INSTRUCTIONS: 1. I used a photo frame and a cardboard.  2. Poke holes to find place holders for battery and lamp and switch and buzzer. 3.Connect a buzzer and lamp in series with +ve of the battery. 4. Connect a switch to -ve of the battery and other end to the lamp. 5. Use the switch to hold for more than 2 seconds to send a DASH and a hold a second to send a DOT. 4. Repeat steps 5 multiple times with multiple combinations and send your encrypted messages in morse code. 5.Write down the results. RESULTS: 1. Sender sends messages translated in morse code and receiver receives them and translates them. CONCLUSION...

rgb color mix

Image
RGB to VIBGYOR PURPOSE: To make different colors using main food colors.  HYPOTHESIS: To need to get the right combination of colors to make right color. MATERIALS: Food coloring - Red, Blue, Green, Yellow Syringe See through Cups (4 party size cups and multiple contiment cups) Water post it sheet PROCEDURE: 1.Take four cups of water and to each cup add 4 drops of food coloring respectively 2.Take syringe and draw ounces of red color water and drop it in condiment cup. 3.Take syringe and draw ounces of blue color water and drop it in same condiment cup. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 multiple times with multiple combinations and produce new colors. 5.Write down the results. RESULTS: 1.Each combination and measurement produces different colors CONCLUSION: 1.I  mimicked this same experiment in my raspberry pi sense hat grid using python language. 2. The real life color mix was different from computer mix of colors 3. The concep...
