Halloween game project

Halloween spider catch game project

PURPOSE:
This time of the year and if you want to integrate kids love of science with fun game, this may be the right one.

HYPOTHESIS:
A closed circuit and a open circuit. When the circuit isn't closed the power doesn't flow to lamp to light it up.

MATERIALS:
Small spiders - plastic ones maybe from dollar store
Copper wire - even craft wire works.
Alligator clips
Round/Hexagonal plate - metal, plastic doesnt matter
Lamp preferably E10 with lamp base and bulb 2-3v bulb
2 AA battery with receptacle
wires to connect and complete the circuit.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Drill some holes on the rim of the plate as shown in above picture.
2.Cut 4 wires slightly an inch more than the diameter of the plate.
3.Insert wires and tie them tight.
4. Use the remaining wire to make a web with the copper wire or craft wire.
5. Connect one of the wire with the circuit to one terminal of lamp.
6. The other terminal need to be connected to a positive of the battery.
7. The battery's negative end  be connected to a wire with a alligator clip.
8. Add the spiders on the plate under the circuit.
9. Use the clip to pick the spiders without touching the web.
10.Write down the results.

RESULTS:
When the clip touches the spider web wire the circuit is closed and lamp is lit.

CONCLUSION:
For a circuit to be active power has to flow from +ve of battery to -ve of battery ie the circuit has to be closed.

We could replace the lamp with a buzzer if you want to use sound instead of light to indicate the loss in the game it can be done
